Looks like both Russia and Ukraine will be f*cked up for the foreseeable future. I can imagine that neither will be a good environment to be in and probably best avoided for any long term stays.

What about the Baltic States? there in EU territory so probably a safer bet, much the same Russian speaking and Russian background there along with a bit of their own of course. Reckon that could be worth a look as a nearby base from much the same background (USSR/Russian Empire). Hear they have quite an IT community there also. Plus not far from Russia & reasonably near Ukraine.

Think other countries, Georgia, Moldova, etc may not get invaded but their economies are likely to be hit bad as a result so likely may be risky also.

Native folks in the Baltic countries are nothing like Russians.
They are much more reserved, even quite cold in beginning relationships.
The women are much, much less likely to have quick sexual contact compared to RWs.

I think potentially it's ruined a lot of our plans. Apart from potentially less men folk in Russia & Ukraine there is the situation of how Russia & Ukraine will be in the future. I think we can gather far worse off moreso the longer they are at it. Ukraine is already reliant now on the west for armaments and to prop up their economy. As we have heard widespread unemployment in Ukraine and poverty woes. Russia of course not really any better. It's really just a case of how far it all disintegrates, how bad people are affected mentally, etc. I'm not sure how long it's going to go on for, the Soviet Union lost at least 8.6 million men during WWII some say much more up to 26 million. Ukraine probably has at least somewhere in the direction of 10 million men to call upon. So my guess is that one side will crack first either economically or in the case of Russia internally. The West chucked in the towel in Afghanistan so it probably gave Putler cause for hope. If Ukraine can successfully counter strike this Spring then that may open up division in Russia. Potentially though this conflict could go on for many with economies everywhere taking a beating but especially in Russia & Ukraine.

For me easy access to Ukraine is off the cards and it's kind of a country and people I've come to like even if sh*t happens sometimes. Just a situation gone badly wrong really, must be pretty bad for those caught up in it all over there.
