Social Security
« on: Yesterday at 06:13:09 PM »
Wife applied for Social Security spousal benefits.  For "country", application only has "Soviet Union" and there is no option for Russia, Ukraine, or Moldova.  Application is denied because country (Soviet Union) does not match country on application for Social Security card (Moldova).  Went to meeting with local SS office.  Denied again with SS Office  employee stating that Soviet Union is Russia and is not Moldova...

form SSA-2-BK just asks for country....it doesn't list anything you have to select from
for her choices are USSR or Moldova or Russia
what did she put on HER Social Security Application
there's an appeal process, you may need an attorney

A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

I just looked at the application form.

(b) Enter name of city and state, or foreign country where you were born.

Application is not done with a printed form.  It is done online from your "My Social Security" account.  The country field has a drop down list of countries that you can choose.

submitting online is one method, the printed form is another, submit by USPS, there may be a way to upload it after you fill it out

1. download the bk-2 form, see above
2. fill it out
3. send it in
