I can't speak for Ukraine, but I have been approached numerous times by Russian women who just wanted to *practice* their spoken English with a native speaker.  It should not be a shock if you are approached in a public place if you are overheard to speak English.  Most of the time these women do not have any ulterior motive, they are not "hot" for your body and it will all be quite innocent, it's just that they rarely get the opportunity to hear a native English speaker and they are thrilled to find one close to home.

I to have had this experience with Russian women.They were all from smaller cities or towns and all were upfront about it though.

It happens quite often, go with it, it is not a bad thing & you may find you will make some great friends. I have 4 women & two men that have become quite close friends when it started out that they heard me speak English & just wanted to hang out & improve their English. Actually it has worked out quite benificially for me as well as my Russian improves more & more just hanging around with them.

Heh . . . well, this was a little different than all that, actually.

Talked relationship, talked serious intentions, talked deep feelings and affection (appropriate to the stage of our correspondence) but became reticient, then recalcitrant, lol, about providing further contact details (mail, phone) and damn near panicky when I mentioned visiting.

I'd think scam, but there was never a single whiff of that.  I'm figuring I was somebody's sexy escapist fantasy for a while.

She had a gmail account, processed in San Jose but originating through "The Bat" and lots of pics . . . with family, with friends, etc. No worries there.

I'm just a lil' bemused that I could be "for her and not for another's the man" but not get an addy and phone, lol. Chalk it up to the learning curve; next time around I'll ask much earlier.

1) Gal professing romantic interest who may just be wanting to practice her English.

2)  Happenstance meeting a gal (or guy) in FSU who wants to practice English.

The real problem happens with number one when the western guy doesn't find out about this until he makes a trip to meet with the gal.

If you want a guarantee, buy a toaster.  Virtually every one knows this wife hunting business via an agency is pretty much a crap shoot.  So far it's no biggie, all Texas Boar lost was a little time, better luck next time.  However I think it does point up the wisdom expressed by many to always have a back up plan with more than one woman of interest.

It seems you've crossed paths with a woman who is not that into you. I would move on and
not spend a lot of time trying to figure it out. Who knows maybe she started dating a local
